Thanks to alliedearest I now know the ID of the artist. It's none other than Scottish artist David Mach.

Has anyone seen the Malia Jensen sculpture in the Weiden and Kennedy building in Portland? It's a giant beaver made out of layers of plywood to a similar effect, but this one is more innovative.

Looks like he used Kong from Peter Jackson's version of King Kong as his base model, I recognize the features.
