You know those little bread tags that cinch the end of a bagged loaf of bread? Have you even noticed them at all? Well, Melanie Favreau has taken notice of these ubiquitous, nondescript little plastic tags and turned them into delicate sterling silver pendants. I wonder if the stamped date is random, or you can pick one yourself.
At first glance, these are simply beautiful colored glass bottles. But, what makes them unique is the process by which they are made. Excerpt from Vessel's site: "This series of five bottles, designed by Tapio Wirkkala in 1968 for
Venini, employs the "Incalmo" technique wherein two different types of
glass, worked separately, are fused together to obtain, within a single
object, separate areas differentiated by colours. This technique was
developed and perfected by the master glass-workers at Venini."
An interesting lamp from Anthologie Quartett designed by Julia Thesenfitz. These lamps burn oil, but give the illusion of a perpetually burning match. Clever and thought provoking - it's like an allegory for 'keeping your initial spark inspiration alive.'

putting together an art show dedicated to Tom Waits in the month of
July and have decided to extend a "Call for Artists" to all the Tom
Waits fans interested in creating some work for the show.
Phone Booth Gallery is an online gallery, so the show will be online
with an option to be a part of an opening party in the beginning of
July in Long Beach, California.
All forms of traditional media are accepted and encouraged for this
juried show, just make it Tom Waits related! Maximum of one piece per
artist, please.
