Plywood is seen as pretty functional when it comes to furniture. Usually, the layers of wood are concealed with veneer. Its primary purpose is to lend strength and stability to wood furniture and building structures. The Fluid Earth Bowl - a square piece of finely layered plywood is carved into hills and valleys to create an otherworldly landscape that functions as a sculptural, modern fruit bowl. What makes it unique, though, is you can customize it to the topographical map of the area of your choice. It's actually a 3D map.

It looks like you can get a non-plywood version, if you prefer. I personally think the plywood version is far more interesting.
