The clever SOLO pendant is a lamp made from a microphone. These would be great in a recording studio entrance area or just as a fun accent in the home. Notice the shadows the lamp casts through the mesh - it's a pretty neat effect. SOLO is made by Re-surface Design in Brooklyn, NY by designer Donna Brady.

You are looking at a dish of soaps. Although they look like turquoise stones, these are beautiful soaps that are scented with cinnamon and peony. I don't think I would be able to bring myself to actually use one of these, they are so exquisite.
The amethyst soap is equally impressive, yet completely different. Both soaps are made by Star Soaps in the heart of Tennessee. They are priced between $1.49 for 1oz soaps to $8.99 for a 6oz soap. Assorted sets are $12.99.

Here are some especially nice pillows to herald in Spring from the Henry Road 2008 collection.
(good one, Joy!)

Napkins look great and stay put with this unique placemat. Pop out the tabs and interlock them to create a napkin ring. This is another great design idea from Josh Jakus, whom we've featured before for his innovative and simple designs. Made of 100% rubber.

Dosugus cushion looks like a black screen and has good old DOS directories embroidered on it.

Lorena Barrezueta is a Brooklyn-based artist. Her Gourmet collection of ceramic dishes as replicas of disposable take-out foil containers is inventive and surprisingly good-looking. The 'Lush' color series really reinforces the textural qualities of the molds, which is why I love this particular series.
Lorena's work has been widely featured in national publications, as well as various design blogs. We thought it was worth talking about anyway because her work is so refreshing and unique we just had to share it (with those who might never have seen her work, like us.) What I also find so amazing is how a simple-yet-smart concept can spawn a whole collection of wonderful objects that are so universally appreciated!
Buy directly from the artist at Etsy. Now is the perfect season, so you have an excuse.

When a common, everyday product sold in the millions is suddenly reinvented, sit up and notice - you're about to witness a true paradigm shift. Hulger's Plumen Project reinvents the utilitarian compact fluorescent light bulb form as a sculptural work of art.
In Hulger's words, "Surely the tubular formation of these objects should be used to its'
advantage, drawing, sculpting or scrawling in the air with light,
turning these afterthoughts into centrepieces and perhaps in the
process creating designs that people will buy through genuine desire
rather than mere moral obligation."
When something this interesting hits the blogsphere, it gets talked about a lot. But, it was too good not to share. We're really excited about the possibilities with this project.
We found these authentically-replicated sushi pillows by The Original Sushi Pillow. Smart use of fleece-like white fabric looks like rice, shimmery black satin looks like nori and the center looks just like a classic california roll - complete with julienned carrots! They also look incredibly soft, too. Check out some of the other pillows, including traditional nigiri (no kidding) and edamame bean pod pillows to complete the look.

Ordinary packing tape takes on a whole new dimension when printed with pretty or clever designs. We've put together an international collection of designer packing tapes that were too cool not to share. Designer packing tape has been known to go out of stock frequently due to demand and limited print quantities. Still, we hope you'll find this comprehensive resource useful.
