Take-G - Futuristic Woodworking

20070617_277547
A fusion of age-old craft technique and futuristic dreams, Take-G Toys are an astonishing collection of toys that are made from natural wood. Each of these toys are hand-made by Takeji (Take-G) Nakagawa in Japan. Unfortunately, for most of us, these are not available outside of Japan. I'd love to see these in an exhibit so I can get real close to check out the details.

We've gathered several of our favorites from the website, which has quite a few images to look through, including some that were harder to locate.  Enjoy!

(thanks, Simon)

Cardboard Play Kitchen

I'm alway on the lookout for cool repurposing projects. Especially when it comes to kids toys. Why bother running to big box department stores and doling out loads of cash for made-in-china toys?

I think Anna's little kitchen unit built entirely from recycled (as in, salvaged from the dumpster) corrugated cardboard is brilliant. Now I'm wishing her plans might become 'shareware'.

Post-It or Toast-It?

Toastednotes_648

Fred comes up with the some of the funniest and interesting toys and accessories. Who'd ever think to reinterpret a stack of Post-It notes as a pat of butter on toast? Very cute and a great conversation piece. This would lighten up any office desk in need of a lift.

A perfect 'just-because' gift.

Raku "Good Morning" Narazumono Dunny

"Huck Gee will drop this custom  Raku "Good Morning" Narazumono Dunny (10 pieces) on Friday, September 14th @ his eBay store.  This intrepid explorer steps out of Huck's print and into 3D as a custom Dunny.  Each of the ten signed and numbered pieces (w/gold embossing on the back of the ear) will go for $600. Huck did a great job with these -- love the Raccoon face and the bushy tail.  So this release begs the question, will we see a Raku "Good Evening" Ninja Dunny ?"

Plush Microbes

Bacteria

Infectiously Cute Plush Microbes!

Most folks never realize how cute microbes can be when expanded 1,000,000 times and then fashioned into cuddly plush. Until now, that is. Keep one on your desktop to remind yourself that there is an "invisible" universe out there filled with very small things that can do incredible damage to much bigger things. Then go and wash your hands. Lather, rinse, repeat.

See the list of microbes available below.
